Mister Monday by Garth Nix

Mister Monday (The Keys to the Kingdom, Book 1)

I rated it 3 stars.

Hmm, another series that I wanted to like, but I'm not quite sure. I have mixed feelings about this book. I would almost rate it a 2.5.

After reading it, I'm not quite sure I really like the protagonist either. Maybe he's just not that believable. Or maybe I just wanted him to act differently sometimes.

I'm also unsure whether I like the book or not because it seems to somewhat try to mirror the creation in a sense and it says straightforwardly that there is no life after death (which I don't believe). Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but either he's taking his knowledge of God and other worlds and putting his own spin on it, or perhaps he's somewhat mocking religion. Or maybe neither and I'm, like I said, reading too much into it.

But I must say the ending ended up being good. Just before the ending parts, though, I really didn't know if I wanted to continue the series. It just wasn't that special. But the author did do a good job of making you want to read the next book. We'll see if I do.

Okay. Have you ever looked into the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series? I think the first book is called The LIghtning Thief. They're by Rick Riordian. I love them. Just a suggestion.

Also, it seems to me that you need to stop wondering through countless unknown series and read some of MY suggestions. Geez.

Okay. Though I would like to be a mutant with the ability to read every book ever written, I read them one at a time, just like you. ;) All I'm saying is to let some of my recommendations cut in line a little.

And... not to be a blog stalker but the fact, that the above book was on sale for 2.99.... I don't know.

The Rays: I'll have to look into that book...and I'll try to let one of your books cut into line and be one of the next 5 books I read. No promises though. I just already have lots of books on the waiting list! But I was thinking Princess Academy soon. I'm so sorry you dislike the fact that I read Mister Monday.

And Pricky..you want in on the secret. Um, you just find time to read and stay up late I guess. Sometimes the lack of sleep is unpleasant though.

Haha. I have never even heard of Mister Monday. That is one thing I love about your site. You are always reviewing books I haven't heard about, so it is great for finding new things.

Well I heard of Garth Nix maybe from Scott Westerfeld. Oh, and have you ever read any Maureen Johnson stuff? I tried...

maybe we should have you be a regular blogger? would you like that? i'd of course have to consult with pricky...but it seems like you would have fun recommending and blogging about your books.

Um that's a negative on the Maureen Johnson. But I love her website and some of the book summaries look very enticing.
Yeah! I'd love to blog. I'm down with whatever though.
I actually love to write, so I am sometimes consumed with that, but I do try to keep up with reading. Let me know!
