First, I have to keep in mind that this book is the first of a five book series. The author's writing is a little difficult to follow at first. The story takes place in England and several of the characters speak with a Cornish accent which was hard to understand. The beginning was a little slow but after the first 50 or so pages it really picked up. Surprisingly, I was on "the edge of my seat" for rest of the story.
The characters were quite annoying at first (their naiveness was driving me crazy) but eventually, I grew to love them. The ending was also a bit disappointing. The whole story was built up around finding this one object and then the end just kind of left it open...I'm assuming this is because I'm going to learn more about it in the latter books so I can't be too judgemental...but it was annoying nonetheless.
A good read. Not too long but a little tedious to follow. My opinions about the ending and the story may change and I read the sequels so stay tuned!

I'll eventually read it. But now I'm dreading the first 50 pages!
